Rose Cottage, Haute Vienne ,Limousin, France, St Sulpice les Feuilles, France

Property Reference: 304

If you love nature then you'll love the Limousin. Known as France's ' Lake district ' and made up of three departments, the Haute Vienne, the Creuse and the Corrèze, it is a beautifull and unspoilt part of the world with an ever-changing landscape.

On its gentle slopes you'll find fields of grazing sheep and the distinct dark caramel-coloured Limousin cattle as well as market gardens and orchards full of cherries and apples. Clear rivers teem with fish as do the many lakes that are home to a huge variety of flora and fauna.

The limousin also has a rich history. As well as its connections with the French wars of religion and of course the revolution, its also linked with richard the Lionheart, whose final attempt to wrest back control of his land from French lords and viscounts ended in his death here.

Limoges is synonymous with the finest china in the world and you can see it been made today. And the famous Aubusson tapestries are still being woven in the town of the same name.

As we're in france we can't forget the food either. Limousin beef is known for being vert tasty and low in fat. Which means that bafterwards you can spoil yourself with a slice of clafoutis aux cerises, a creamy cherry tart that is a speciality of the region.
